Beauty innovation is in full force nowadays. From the latest super ingredient to gimmicky trends, there are new releases coming out all the time. Givenchy has recently thrown their hat into the ring with the Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara.
This mascara promises a lash extension effect with its deep black formula that has a unique stretching characteristic to add length and offer buildable volume as well. The innovation is the bendable mascara wand. It bends to a 90° angle so you can reach the very base of your lashes.
I’ve been trying out this mascara for a little bit and unfortunately it just didn’t work for me and my lashes. I love the substantial, square packaging but the bendable mascara wand was clunky and hard to maneuver. As much as I tried to get to the roots of my lashes, I kept poking myself in the eye or getting mascara on my upper lash line. The instructions say to zigzag the wand to coat your lashes really well but I just couldn’t catch my lashes with the bristles to then zigzag. I also had issues with coating my lower lashes but found it was best when the wand was not bent.
I do enjoy how much definition I got while using this mascara but I wasn’t able to get much length or volume. Now this is not a waterproof formula, so unfortunately it didn’t hold the curl of my lashes. I didn’t experience any flaking or smudging so that is great to know for all you non-waterproof mascara wearers.
I have included shots of my lashes in the shots below. You can see that I achieved great definition but that there wasn’t a lot of lengthening or volume and my lashes aren’t as curled as usual. The photos were taken about 15 minutes after applying so my lashes lose more curl as I wear the mascara longer.
Have you tried the Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara? What did you think of it?
til next time…
